Entrance Hall

A fabulous feature of this historic property is the hallway, running the full length of the house from the grand Georgian portico and panelled front door to the wide Georgian part glazed garden door at the rear of the house, offering a view from the front door right through to the walled garden. The hallway retains traditional panelling and exposed beams complemented by a modern lighting design, the staircase leading from it at its mid-point to the landing above has a fascinating and rare art deco banister rail. A lovely feature is the original Georgian front doorbell, operated by a pulling arm at the front door moving a cable through guides leading down the hallway to its original brass bell offering the softest “ringtone” imaginable!

Drawing Room

A spacious and exquisitely appointed room offering a truly comfortable place to relax for all guests, friends and family, with three sofas and additional seating. Traditional furniture, such as the Regency sideboard with table lamps complements the historic features of the room which include an original Tudor fireplace, exposed beams and fully restored window shutters. Also benefitting from a wall mounted large widescreen TV so that everyone can be together and enjoy a film night!

Dining Room

Retaining original period features to include fully restored window shutters and exposed beams, this formal setting is perfect for family celebrations, festivities and special occasions. It has luxurious furnishings and furniture to include a large sideboard, Victorian rosewood three tier buffet and an extending dining table with seating for up to eight.

Garden Sitting Room

A light and spacious Southwest facing room featuring a period fireplace and exposed beams. It offers a sun-drenched retreat for relaxing with comfortable sofas and furnishings, TV and large French doors leading out on the garden. Moving between the garden sitting room, walled garden and kitchen, with all the rear doors of the house open in fine weather, offers an extremely sociable atmosphere where the house and garden become one.

Kitchen - Breakfast Room

With Blue Lias flagstone floors, exposed beams and a period fireplace, the bespoke kitchen breakfast room offers both the traditional feel and all modern facilities needed for in-house cooking to include a dual fuel Range Cooker with twin electric ovens, separate grill and five burner gas rings with extractor fan above. Also, a fitted dishwasher, oak work tops with butler sink, larder cupboard, cupboards and drawers containing all the necessary culinary requirements. There is a large oak kitchen table that comfortably seats eight, also wide French doors that open on the garden dining area for easy fine weather eating al fresco.

Utility/Boot Room

Attached to the rear of the house, however accessed via the garden, this spacious, centrally heated room with quarry tiled floor provides excellent washing and drying facilities away from the kitchen area. It offers a bespoke, full length oak worktop with butler sink and storage under, a washing machine with dryer, a large bench seat with basket storage compartments below and a lath Victorian pulley clothes airer. From wetsuits to wellies, beach towels to body warmers, it’s perfect for a holiday near coast and sea!

Downstairs Cloakroom

Conveniently located on the ground floor, complete with vanity mirror and dual heated towel rail.

The Walled Garden

Malabar House has the benefit of a delightful walled garden, accessible only from the rear doors of the house and offering a safe and secure environment to enjoy all year round. Being Southwest facing and extremely sheltered, it has its own microclimate, readily becoming warm even outside the summer months.

Outside Dining

A dwarf stone wall with discreet downlighting curves around the paved area, retaining raised shrub and flower borders. Adjacent to the house there is an extending dining table with seating for up to ten.
